Plans
Here is the current plan for the reconstruction, the result of a lot of labor by Monika Chmielewska and Phillippe Baumann, the principal at Baumann Architecture. At this point, the Open Space Alliance, which runs McCarren Park, has approved the resurfacing and new windscreens shown in the Phase One shot below.
Below are a few shots of what could happen in the future. Obviously, all of this will require Parks Department and OSA approval (as well as a lot of money), and that has not been granted. Right now we're focused on Phase One, but a we'll be working hard to keep developing these facilities for the community well into the future. We'll keep you posted.

lights and resurfacing just on the existing courts would be an excellent goal.

Agreed. Resurfacing, nets, windscreens are job #1. Then lights, and down the road, hopefully we can expand. If you think the courts are busy now, wait until they’re nice!

Lights for playing at night would be amazing. The baseball and track have lights. Why not the tennis courts!?!

you guys deserve a lot of credit…why these courts have been neglected for so long is a shame…politicians and beaureacrats at their worst (best?) i used to play there 10 years ago on a daily basis…back then the courts already needed resurfacing never mind everything else….now the problem with these courts will be sharing court time, but i guess we can get to that problem when that time comes…
keep up the great work…
